Grandfather Frost with Children and Bear Cub. (Дед Мороз с детьми и медвежонком). An absolutely stunning large carved and painted Grandfather Frost carries a bear cub on his shoulder. Paintings of children on the front holding snow bunnies, while on the back children build a snowman, and one child holds a kitten. There is a remarkable amount of detail on this elaborate Christmas carving, including the two-sided staff that symbolizes his sovereign dominion over winter, with the sun on one side, and the moon on the other. The bear cub that hugs Grandfather Frost is a work of art unto itself, with separate carvings all pieced together and elegantly arranged. Every inch is covered! 

The whole piece is 16" in height and weighhs just over 8½ pounds. Signed by the artist, N. Karpova. Made in Russia. 1 only, as pictured.
