  • Baranovka "Dancer" ("Плясунья"). Circa 1960. Hand painted, gilding, cobalt. A popular vintage piece whose origin goes back some 75 years in the Baranovka Factory. 3½' in height. Made for the domestic market, marked 2-C in green.  The Baranovka (or Baranówka) Porcelain Manufactory was founded by Mikhail Mezer in 1801 in Volynia, or Volhynia (then in Poland, and later annexed by Russia, thus an imperial factory). Baranówka today is located in Ukraine and is known as Baranivka; the factory either was dissolved in 2013, or it still exists and produces tablewares as well as decorative objects (both could be true, or not, according to AI). It has an interesting history, to say the least.

  • Sobstvenny Teapot. This teapot is based on the med-18th century porcelain design called Собственный (i.e, Personal) that was created by Dmitry Vinogradov for Empress Elizaveta, who reigned from 1741 to 1762. If it looks familiar, it is, as the highly popular cobalt net design from Lomonosov (today Imperial) porcelain was influenced by it. Elizaveta, or Elizabeth, was the daughter of Peter the Great, who wanted her to establish a genuine porcelain factory in St. Petersburg, which, at the time, was the capital of Russia. Originally named the Imperial Porcelain Factory and established in 1744, it was the aforementioned talented Russian scientist Vinogradov, who worked out the technology to create the first Russian porcelain.

  • St. Isaac's Cathedral (Исааакиевский собор).
