"Petit Coeur" (Скромное Сердце) Basket. A beautiful filigree basket made in Russia in the Kazakova workshops. The graceful and delicate heart motif is repeated numerous times. An outstanding example of filigree craftsmanship - by hand! - not machine - that was perfected during the days of Catherine the Great. 99.9% pure silver over copper. 5" diameter; about 3½" tall.

In Russia, Kazakovskaya filigree has been celebrated for a long time. Filigree can be found at excavation sites dating back to the 9th century. In 1927, a metal production center was founded in the village of Kazakovo near Nizhny Novgorod.
