The Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg was established on the banks of the Neva River in 1744 by Empress Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great. This venerable firm continues to make wonderful porcelain using Old World methods and traditions of firing, glazing, hand painting and precious metals decoration. Russian porcelain has recently become a topic of great interest for experts and porcelain lovers throughout the world as documentation in the form of books and pamphlets has become available.
