Product Description
Palekh Troika (Палехская Тройка). A classic theme of Palekh painters throughout the ages, and in Russian art in general. For those not in the know, a troika is a turn-of-the-century carriage or sleigh pulled by three horses. Palekh artists use traditional colors: red and gold for the horses and blue and white for the icy snow. In a real-life troika, the center horse holds to a straight line while the two opposite pulling horses generate the high speeds that are typical of a well-balanced troika.
