Icons by the hand of Evgenia Diachenko
Born and raised in the Orthodox faith, Evgenia holds a master's degree in Educating Adults, from DePaul University, and a bachelor's degree in Byzantine Art and Culture. She is an active member in the Hellenic American Diaspora of the Chicagoland area, a volunteer educator at the Heartland Alliance, an organization that supports and provides critical resources and services for immigrants, and she volunteers as an educator at the National Hellenic Museum where she shares with others the Hellenic history, art, and culture, from antiquity to the Byzantine era and beyond.
Some icons are painted directly on birch wood boards, prepared with layers of gesso. She also paints on canvas, placing it on a prepared birch wood board.
