Product Description
Vyatka Nolinsk Matryoshka [Vintage 8pc]. This is a rarely encountered, in our experience, monochromatic doll with yellow tops (shawls) and purple bottoms (dresses) on the first five, then polka-dots and blank wood. The only piece that stands out is the third one painted with the characteristic "swirls" on the back.
The style of the doll is "Uzor" ("Узор"), which means "patterned weaving". These dolls are known as Kirov, Viatka or Nolinsk dolls. The dolls are from the prosaically named "Territorial Production Association of the local industry and crafts of the Kirov Executive Committee to produce toys. Nolinsk Factory. Production Association "Viatka". (Территориальная производственное объединение местной промышленности и художественных промыслов Кировского облисполкома по выпуску игрушек. Нолинская фабрика.) A purple rectangle with the original price is stamped on the bottom of the first doll, with one digit marked out. Also, 8X has been written in pencil. 8 nest doll is 5¾" to 1". In about fine condition. Made in the late 1970s to early 1980s.
