The Village Courtship (Ухаживание в Деревне). Fedoskino, 1987. Kolganova. It is the middle of winter as can be seen by the snow covered houses in the distance. Yet, the brightly-colored winter clothing the young people are wearing glows and shimmers! The maiden in the front clasps a linen handkerchief in her hand, a favorite prop of Russian dancers. All the youthful faces gentle, kind and expressive. The painting, by a trained Fedoskino master, is a feast of bright colors: vivid reds, greens, yellows, blues and browns. Materials used include translucent oil paints, metallic powders and clear lacquer. The well-made papier-mache  box is hinged and rests on four button feet. 6¼"x4¼"x2". 1 only.
