The author's well researched book describes in detail the brief life of Prince Oleg (1892-1914). He was one of the lesser-known members of the Russian Imperial family, who lived a life of luxury amongst the family’s four magnificent palaces of Pavlovsk, in Tsarskoye Selo, the Marble Palace in St Petersburg, and the Konstantine Palace at Strelna, as well as the Ostashevo Estate near Moscow, and holidays in the Crimea. He was the first Romanov to be enrolled in a civilian school and graduated from the Imperial Lyceum in St Petersburg, where in 1913 he won the Pushkin Medal for his academic achievements.
Oleg Konstantinovich was the son of the talented Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich, who wrote under the pseudonym of KR. Prince Oleg, with four of his brothers, served in the Guards duringthe first World War, where he was shot while fighting against the Germans near Vladislavovas (today Kudirkos Naumiestis). He died of his wounds at the age of 21.
