The Deer And Marjusa (Der Hirsch Und Marjusa) is from the fairy tale Fenist the Falcon and is based on original art by Gero Trauth. It is the 3rd plate from the second series of six plates titled Magical Fairy Tales From Old Russia (Edition 2) and was issued in 1988 by Heinrich Porzellan, a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach, Germany. Signed on the back by Isabelle von Boch in marker and dated 5-5-1990. She is an 8th generation family member.
Plate is in new condition but no box or COA. It does have a hanger to attach to the wall. 8½" (21 cm) in diameter. 1 only.
Born in Silesia (Poland) in 1942, Gero Trauth studied Arts, Graphics and Design at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. From 1984-1997 he maintained a successful partnership with Villeroy&Boch/Heinrich–Porzellan in Selb. He has a wonderful sense of style and color and the black background of each plate makes the artwork stand out. Trauth has his own website and a Wikipedia page as well.
