Kirov Lad with Bayan Box (Кировский мальчик с Баяном). Not a doll but a specialty item from Vyatka circa 1988. A box that is 5" in height and opens in the middle depicts a young boy playing a bayan and wearing a purple service cap. The cap and collar of the boy doll are machined from one piece of wood. The bayan is a chromatic button accordion developed in Russia in the early 20th century and named after 11th-century bard Boyan. USSR paper insert in Russian, late 1980s. Made in the Kirov factory. Brand new. A nice addition to any Russian folk art collection. A few available.
