In the Voznesensky district of Nizhny Novgorod (formerly Gorky) region, the village of Polkh (Polkhov Maidan) is neighbor to Krutets and Semenov. Artists often strive to create something new - they don't like to repeat themselves. Flowers, berries and leaves are a constant theme and can alsway be found on the nesting dolls and toys. The designs are applied immediately, without a preliminary drawing. The artist will add traditional black strokes and apply darker colors to the flowers and leaves. Oil paints and aniline dyes are combined for effect.
