Old Testament Holy Trinity Icon (Троица Ветхозаветная). The Holy Trinity icon shown here was originally created by Russia's most celebrated icon painter, Andrei Rublev (1360-1428). It depicts three winged angels who appear to Abraham. They are seated and gesture towards the chalice in the center of the table. Abraham's house, the ancient oak of Mamre and the mountainside are in the background. The Holy Trinity is the fundamental theme of Pentecost. A lovely miniature, fully hand painted icon. 3¼" x 5½". Mattte finish with slight raised relief. Painted in Russia. 1 only.
