Product Description
Wooden Box, Moscow, 1933. It's not often we acquire a more or less small nondescript box with a Russian provenance - it belonged to a Russian emigre family. Study the carved designs carefully, and you will notice how many different decorative elements come together. The center of the top has a crosshatch design, around which is a ring with large dots, which in turn is surrounded with tooth-like designs, and finally, a thick plain outer ring. The cylindrical part of the box is ringed both top and bottom. In the center is an intricate pierced designs consisting of small Jerusalem crosses inside diamond outlines. A lot of detail and care went into crafting this nearly 100-year old keepsake box. Made in the Abramtsevo workshops. 3⅝" x 2½". In "as found" condition (see pics). 1 only.
