Valerian Viliamovich Carrik (Валериан Вильямович Каррик) (1869-1943) was a Russian illustrator, caricaturist and satirical journalist who fled after the October Revolution in 1917 to Norway. His father, William Carrick, was a pioneering photographer of 19th century Russian peasants and workers on the streets of St. Petersburg.

Cloth spine binding is sound, black letters of title fully visible. Plenty of soil marks in the book, as well as some wrinkled pages that are mostly at the back, as behooves a book that was in a child's hands a century ago.
