A Pastoral Boat Ride [Palekh]

Boat Ride (Поездка по лодке).  A pastoral scene of a young romatic couple on the lake sit passively in a small rowboat. All that is being said is via silence and gestures. An elegant miniature (approx. 1¾"x1") box. 

Papier-mache, egg tempera paints, lacquer. Detailed decorative freehand scroll border in gold. Signed by the artist in gold and dated 1990. 1 only, as shown.

Alexey Viktorovich Golov (Алексей Викторович Голов). Alexey Viktorovich was was born in 1961 in the village of Palekh, Ivanovo region. Ру studied at the Palekh Art College from 1979-1984 and worked in the Palekh Art and Production Workshops for several years before its liquidation in 1989-1991. His father was Victor Ivanovich Golov (1925-1997), who both worked in Palekh and taught at the Palekh Art School. After the collapse of the Palekh workshops in 1991, he apparently worked as a tradesman helping to improve the infrastructure in Palekh.

Condition note: White or cloudy areas in the photos are "hot spots" caused by studio lights reflecting off the shiny lacquer. The box itself is brand new, and perfect.
