Aria (Ария) Candy Dish. A superb example of Old World Russian filigree work made by hand and not a machine. This delicate and labor-intensive piece is an excellent example of design and craftsmanship reminiscent of "bobbin-lace" (a textile made by braiding and twisting lengths of thread, which are wound on bobbins). Attached throughout are tiny grains (seeds) and the dish was dipped in near pure (99.9%) silver and then plated in 24Kt gold. Hand-crafted in the small village of Kazakovo, near Nihzny Novgorod (formerly the city of Gorky). 5¾" diameter and about 2½" deep. A beautiful compliment to our gold plated Russian Tea Glass Holders.
