An elegant portable triptych with an image of Christ Pantocrator holding a gospel open to Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He blesses with His right hand. The sign of the cross is inscribed in the nimbus and the Greek letters form the Divine Name. The abridged name of Jesus Christ - IC XC - designates the hypostasis of the Incarnate Son. He is clothed in a dark himation and a brightly colored tunic. The Mother of God depicted is the Theotokos of Vladimir. This special representation expresses the feelings of motherly love and anxiety for the fate of Her child. Archangel Michael is Chief Commander of the Heavenly Hosts, a warrior with a red cloak, a spear and an orb with the Slavonic word "Holy". The orb represents earthly authority. Painted in Russia. 3½"x9" when open. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
